The Alpha Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta was chartered on Louisiana Tech's campus on April 25, 1931. Our chapter continues to strive for excellence on Tech's campus as well as in National Kappa Delta.
Alpha Chi Chapter began the 2016 school year with Recruitment, excited and anxious to meet our soon to be sisters. We happily approached Bid Day, selecting 70 wonderful women to become our sisters. Each of these women represents the epitome of a Kappa Delta sister and has enhanced our chapter in countless ways. Our chapter had a very successful year in the area of academic excellence. We maintained the highest overall GPA among the four Panhellenic Sororities for the entire 2015-2016 school year.
Our Chapter also strives to maintain excellence on campus. Kappa Delta has three members serving on Panhellenic Council and three members serving as Orientation Student Leaders. We were well represented on the 2014 Homecoming Court by sisters Mary Peyton Payne and Mackenzie Potts. In 2015, sister Kayleigh Eppling received the honor of being named Greek Woman of the Year. We had four sisters named to Tech's 2015-2016 Who's Who. Kappa Deltas hold many Student Government positions, including class officers, senators, and cabinet members. Kappa Delta is represented in many groups and organizations on Tech's campus including Union Board, Student Advancement Team, Student Recruiters, Golden Key Honor Society, and Tech Leadership Council.
Our chapter volunteers many service hours for the community of Ruston. Throughout the year, we have been recognized in articles in the Ruston Daily Leader and Delta Style commending our philanthropic work. Our largest philanthropy event is our annual 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run Shamrock Event. This past March, we raised over $20,000 for the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home and Prevent Child Abuse America with the help of the campus and community.
